This wine has the benefit of being from one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Orange, set apart from the majority of them near Nashdale. The result, darker colour, vibrant dark cherry fruits, some briar notes and I can’t help but smell some cedar and pine forest notes.
The palate sets this wine apart from most, it is full fruit flavour, it has richness, tannin drive but it is well integrated into a soft silky texture. The palate is mature and will drink well lighter meats.
Description
The more serious older brother of the Gris, the Pinot Noir from Orange does have a reputation of being… light, in colour, body and intensity which makes them great every day drinks.
But for me… I am inspired by other factors, during my time in Burgundy (home of Pinot Noir) both working and travelling I noticed that the very best Pinot Noir is dark, full and better then what Orange generally offers.
Antonio’s is an expression of my craft and I aim to be different and… better.
